Owner Spotlight: Shirl Funk

I’m Shirl Funk, the proud owner of SHIRL FUNK MORTGAGES - Powered by Mortgage Centre, and a Mortgage Broker in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.

My career in finance began back in September of 2001 with Franklin Templeton Investments. Twelve years ago, in 2009, a colleague of mine suggested mortgage as an attractive option. This led to me working with two mortgage brokerages over the first few years before moving to Dominion Lending Centres, where I stayed for five years building great contacts and beautiful friendships.

In 2017 with the thought of offering the best mortgage products to my clients, I decided to branch out on my own and launched SHIRL FUNK MORTGAGES - Powered by Mortgage Centre. 

Now five years since my business establishment, I have been blessed to have seen continued growth right from day one. My client list has grown exponentially, and I am always kept occupied and out of trouble.  

The part of my business I find most exhilarating is that my clients trust me with what is probably the most significant purchase of their lives. I take the responsibility exceptionally seriously find I am the happiest when my clients are delighted. 

As an individual, I believe what sets me apart from the others is my commitment to honesty and hard work.  

I attribute my success to my dedication to my clientele and my commitment to being there for them. My customer-centric approach to mortgages has also gone a long way to making me the best choice for all your mortgage needs.

Opening my brokerage and always moving forward despite early setbacks has given me immense satisfaction over the years and continues to inspire me never to quit. 

When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my soul mate, Glenn Bergen, who I married in 2016. Together we have six children and twelve grandchildren that we have brought together to form one incredible family.

I also believe in giving back to society and, as part of that belief, donate to various charities such as the Winnipeg Harvest.

I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.
